In the past 15 years, Ho Chi Minh City has become one of the most rapidly developing cities in Southeast Asia. Ton Duc Thang, the main waterfront boulevard was once home to the Customs Office, the Navy Office, and the historic Ba Son shipyard.

Today, these institutions have made way for a new chapter of Ho Chi Minh City’s history, one marked by the slick glass and steel towers springing up all over the city. Among these, the Nexus stands out for its central location and unique approach to creating dynamic spaces to accompany commercial real estate development.

The Nexus Square, opened in late 2024, is one of the first of a new breed of public space in HCMC. Spanning 1000 square meters, it’s an open, breezy space nestled at the foot of the Nexus Tower. During the day, it features a host of food trucks with a shaded seating area for those looking for a quick bite. Easily accessible to both pedestrians and vehicles, its location just off one of HCMC’s main arteries make it a dynamic, central space.

Recently, Nexus Square has hosted everything from Lunar New year celebrations to New Zealand-Vietnam business summits, and even sporting events like football matches. Just off the side of Nexus Square, on the ground floor of the Nexus Tower, sits Mam Mam, a recently opened modern Vietnamese restaurant.

Easy access, close proximity to restaurants and amenities and a central location in historic D1 make Nexus Square a uniquely attractive space. While HCMC continues to develop around it, we can only hope Nexus Square will set the standard for public spaces to come.
