New Zealand-Vietnam Business Summit At Nexus Square

On Thursday 27/02, Nexus Square was the scene for a visit from the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Christopher Luxon. Joined by Nicola Grigg, the Minister of State for Trade and Investment, and a 20-strong cohort of New Zealander business, the visit aimed to reinforce the flourishing trade relationship between New Zealander and Vietnamese businesses.

Mr.Luxon gave a speech, in which he praised the 50-year long diplomatic relationship between the two countries. He also highlighted the key role Kiwi businesses have played in helping Vietnam accelerate economic development in sectors like education, green transition, digitalisation and sustainable agriculture.

The businesses present were among New Zealand’s leading exporters to Vietnam, ranging in activity from food and beverage to renewable energy, infrastructure, technology, education and manufacturing.

The New Zealander delegation hosted a Food and Beverage showcase at Nexus Square during their visit. As well as boost visibility for some of New Zealand’s biggest trading partners with Vietnam, the event featured a partnership signing ceremony, reinforcing the links between Vietnamese and New Zealander businesses.

Among these were some of New Zealand’s biggest companies, like Fonterra Brands. The event also saw the announcement of educational partnerships between Vietnamese and New Zealander universities, establishing new educational ties between the two nations.

Finally, Ms.Grigg gave a speech during which she made clear the New Zealand government’s willingness to pursue continued growth in New Zealand-Vietnam trade, particularly its role as a major exporter of goods and services to Vietnam.
